My Story

Catherine Batz, DO, is a holistically minded Family Medicine physician and Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine specialist who treats patients of all ages. Her clinical interests include full-spectrum family medicine with an emphasis on women's health, integrative medicine, preventive care and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM). Dr. Batz practiced in a traditional hospital-based primary care practice for three valuable years following her training but found herself wanting something more for her and her patients. This led her to Direct Primary Care. Her passion for this model of care stems from a core value that patients deserve a meaningful and connected relationship with their primary care physician. Direct Primary Care supports patients and doctors having the time they need and deserve together to work to optimize a patient’s health.

Dr. Batz grew up in Pittsburgh, PA with devoted parents and four older sisters. A science nerd from a young age, she ultimately majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry at Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame taking a little detour to study the arts for two semesters in Rome. She then found her way to the country roads of West Virigina for medical school, excited about Osteopathic Medicine and how it offers a holistic way to approach patients including the use of Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) to treat and support a wide variety of conditions. Working at a local conference as a graduate teaching fellow in the OMM department, she met some lovely folks from Maine, matched there successfully for residency, and ultimately decided to call Maine home.

Dr. Batz lives with her husband, John, and adorable dog, Gemma. When she isn’t cheering on the Fighting Irish, she loves to garden, get in a good sweat on her Peloton, experiment with recipes in the kitchen, and most recently has taken up baking sourdough and brewing kombucha.
