Are you looking for a consultation for metabolic health or menopause support?  Dr. Lucas has offerings outside of direct primary care with Bonchemie Medical.  See below and you can make an appointment here.

My Story

Dr. Lucas is a osteopathic family physician who specializes in primary care and metabolic health.  Dr. Lucas has over 10 years of experience practicing in small community hospitals. She teaches medical students and residents in clinical and classroom settings.  In this way, she hopes to inspire new medical school graduates to join this revolutionary method of delivering comprehensive, quality, patient-focused health care.

Dr. Lucas advocates for simplified health care centered on a strong physician-patient relationship.  She has worked with the insurance-based system for long enough to understand what a disservice it is to patients and physicians.  In 2019, Dr. Lucas left her employed position to embark on this journey to create a clinic that is truly patient-centered.

Recognizing that many chronic diseases originate from diet and nutrition, Dr. Lucas became certified in Obesity Medicine.  She specializes in metabolic health, including but not limited to obesity, diabetes, and polycystic ovarian syndrome.  Many of these diseases can be reversed with proper counseling, changes to medication, and consistent monitoring.  Dr. Lucas also holds additional certifications in menopause treatment from the North American Menopause Society (NAMS).

Dr. Lucas created a separate practice called Bonchemie Medical with Dr. Amanda McDonough, an OBGyn board certified in obstetrics/gynecology, obesity medicine and certified in Menopause care. Bonchemie, meaning "good chemistry," refers to the foundational and functional approach to metabolic disease. It also references the feeling when you finally find the right physician partner that has the time to listen and guide you to great health. Bonchemie will be offering educational materials, courses and in person programs incorporating physician care, lab testing and health coaching in 2024.  At this time, you can be seen for a consult through Bonchemie without being a member of Fulcrum Family Health DPC.  Members of our DPC do receive 10% all services at Bonchemie.

Dr. Lucas lives in Cumberland with her husband, Romeo (the other Dr. Lucas), and their three children, Sophie, Henry, and Oliver.  Yes, that's right, twins.  It's hard not to gain some experience after caring for three kids under 2!  She loves working with families and often uses her hands-on knowledge from home to help parents and children with practical ways to increase health and happiness.
