Newborn Baby

Fourth Trimester

Bringing home your baby is just the beginning.

The first 3 months of your baby's life outside of the womb will be a time of great adjustment.  You and your baby will develop routines as they find their place in your family.

This is a time for simplicity and flexibility.  We offer support through in-home visits, lactation counseling and easy accessibility with phone/text so you don't need to leave your nest.

What do you mean by fourth trimester?

Dr. Harvey Karp, renowned pediatrician and author of “The Happiest Baby on the Block,” is credited for popularizing the concept of the fourth trimester. According to Karp, even full-term human babies are born “too soon,” and he encourages parents to think of their little ones as fetuses outside the womb for the first 4 months of their lives.

Parents also experience major transition during the first 12 weeks. The learning curve is steep; it takes time to understand your baby's cries to distinguish between hunger and discomfort.  This is even harder when you are navigating hormone changes and sleep deprivation.

The fourth trimester program offers support for both mom and baby in the comfort of your own home with a physician with extensive personal and professional experience.

The fourth trimester program includes

  • In-home office visits after transition home, 1 month, 2 month and 3 month

  • Post-partum support including but not limited to wound healing, mental health, nutrition and breast-feeding challenges

  • Administration of vaccines

  • Unlimited texts, calls and emails

  • Unlimited telehealth visits

  • Support for other children and other family members

Cost: 12 weeks, $800/NONMEMBERS, $600/MEMBERS
